Dental Fillings

Dental fillings, otherwise known as tooth restorations, are dental treatments used to restore the integrity, function, and structure of missing tooth structures caused by decay or trauma.

We proudly offer natural, strong, beautiful tooth-colored fillings to our patients. Thanks to new bonding technologies, old mercury fillings are a thing of the past. New tooth-colored resin fillings provide durability and a more natural finish!

Disadvantages of Silver Fillings

Traditional silver fillings are made up of 50% mercury. These filings can wear down and break more easily than resin, causing a lack of protection and an increased risk of decay. As silver fillings age, their metal expands and contracts and can even split. These fillings can also corrode, leak, and cause stains on your teeth and gums.

Luckily, modern technology allows us to safely replace silver fillings with tooth-colored fillings.

Dental Fillings Procedure

A dental fillings appointment often requires the area of the tooth to be numbed. Do not worry! Our team is well-trained, and this process only takes a minute. Once you are numb, the dentist will remove the damaged or decayed areas of the tooth. This area will then be cleaned to ensure that it is ready for repair. Next, the filling will be applied to the tooth. Adhesives and composites will be placed on top of the tooth to seal and protect it. After this, a bonding light may be used for several seconds to harden the material. Lastly, the dentist will smooth and polish the tooth.

Advantages of Tooth-Colored Fillings

Tooth-colored fillings are made up of dental composite resin that contains fluoride. This fluoride helps prevent decay and helps the tooth appear more natural in appearance and texture.
